Spring Wedding Planned

Mr. and Mrs. Randall Paul of Orchard Park are proud to announce the engagement of their son Don Paul to long-time WIVB co-worker and fellow weatherman Mike Cejka.

This happy couple has weathered many storms.

This happy couple has weathered many storms.

Mr. Paul has been employed since 1982 as the Senior weatherman at the local CBS affiliate where he has blathered on for years about wind speed, hyper-cyclonic cloud cover and the possibility for intense wind shear.  He met Mr. Cjeka when they were paired together in the late 1980’s for a Channel 4 special report on lake effect snow that was pounding the Southtowns.  “We did some pounding of our own later that night,” recalls Mr. Paul.

Mr. Cjeka, who is employed as the junior weather man at WIVB, has become very comfortable delivering the news.  However, he was less enthusiastic to discover what it is like to be on the other side of a news story when he trespassed on private property in Niagara County and then ran a stop sign while fleeing from police, who drew their weapons and handcuffed him.

Cjeka maintains that he finds it “romantic, not illegal” to use the light of the moon to look under the tarped, private property of others and he claims that “jealous police have been out to get me for years.”

Although no wedding date has been set, local news fans predict that this relationship has a “70% chance of torrential storms with unusually high levels of liquid precipitation.”

This article is insulting and insensitive. You people should respect the personal lives of those in the WNY Media. How would you like it if someone wrote a blog about mistakes you have made in your life Ronn? I have no doubt that you have made plenty. Maybe I’ll start a site that exposes terrible errors you have made in your life. This article is just one of them.
I think you and whoever is behind this site should be ashamed of themselves. You are a disgrace to local news sites.

    Dear Disgusted:
On behalf of Mr. Chesmonde, I apologize for the content contained in the article above.
We have canceled his Christmas bonus and are in the process of trying to have him fired.
Also, we are keenly interested in your idea of a website that would be dedicated to exposing the errors that Mr. Chesmonde has made in his life. We know of many. Please send the link as soon as it’s up and we’ll make certain to publish some real gems.
Finally, we couldn’t agree with you more on your last point: We *ARE* a disgrace to local news. And someday (God willing) we hope to be a disgrace to news on a national level. Thanks for your comments and your continued readership. Merry Christmas and Happy Kwanza!

Wow… I think I have witnessed a miracle. The blogging website Topix had a thread on this issue entitled ‘Mike Cejka’s wild night out’. It had hundreds of posts so far. It has now been mysteriously removed.

After previous experiences with the Topix forums, I am not a fan. There is a thin line regarding blogging, between freedom of speech and libel. I recently witnessed the damage that blogging can do. My colleagues were the subject of nearly 3,000 libelous posts, some of which could be considered threatening, and despite their appeals to remove the thread, Topix would not budge. My colleagues are simple, everyday citizens, who had their lives changed forever in the blink of an eye by media malpractice. They did not have access to friends in high places, or in this case, media outlets. They did not have the money to hire a fleet of top-notch attorneys. They did not have an ‘in’ with law enforcement.

The Topix forum put a target on their chests and invited anyone who had a keyboard in front of them to take their best shot, anonymously of course. And almost 3,000 shots were fired. However, when WIVB (who played a huge part in the malicious media campaign against them) and their weatherman became the subject of a thread on Topix, it was removed after only a few weeks. In my experience with Topix, that’s almost equivalent to an act of Congress. It is impossible. Topix doesn’t waver. However, WIVB, who would break down John Q Public’s door to pursue a story in the name of freedom of speech, has managed to commit the ultimate act of betrayal and hypocrisy. This is undoubtedly due to backdoor politics, or strongarm legal tactics, which are the very things they proudly ‘expose’ when regular joes are involved. Shameful.

Since the December 14, 2009 arrest of WIVB/channel 4 meteorologist extraordinaire, Mike Cejka, I’ve been patiently waiting for word about this from the local television news. Aside from the Buffalo and Lockport newspapers, there has been nothing. Channel 2’s Red Coats have let me down!

To cheer me up, the MS Singers were inspired by American Idol wannabe, Larry Platt and his song “Pants on the Ground”. A la Weird Al, we have……..

    CHAPS ON THE GROUND

    Chaps on the ground
    Chaps on the ground
    Grab some Vaseline
    and go to town

    Hat to the side
    Hat to the side
    Grab a naked guy
    and go for a ride
